MM#003 Major Flare Watch
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
The largest x-ray event in the past 24 hours was an isolated
M6.9 at 12/18/21:58 UT produced by NOAA 2241 (S09W06).
Target region, NOAA 2242 was the source of several
C-class events and an M1.3 event at 12/19/09:44 UT.
Both regions remain large and magnetically complex with
E-type/beta-gamma-delta sunspot groups and 2242 has bright
dynamic H-alpha plage. Both regions have the potential to
produce a major flare. We will continue to stay with target
region 2242 for at least the next 24 hour period.
The position of NOAA 2242 on December 19 at 16:30 UT is:
S18W26 (Solar X = 408", Solar Y = -280")

MM#003 Major Flare Watch
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
NOAA 2242 is maintaining its E-type/beta-gamma-delta
magnetic configuration with a complex E-W inversion line.
2242 has only managed to produce C-class activity since
the major M8.7 event on the 17th. NOAA region 2241, S10E12,
is also a complex E-type/beta-gamma-delta region with an
E-W magnetic inversion line. Both regions have the potential
to produce a major flare in the next 24 to 48 hours but 2242 will
continue to be the target region.
The position of NOAA 2242 on December 18 at 12:30 UT is:

MM#003 Major Flare Watch
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Target region, NOAA 2242, produced an M8.7 event
at 12/17/04:50 UT. 2242 has significantly increased its
sunspot count and area since the last message and
continues to maintain its complex E-W magnetic inversion
line. At this time we are implementing Max Millennium
observing plan #003 (Region Likely To Produce A Major Flare).
Another major flare =/>M5 is likely in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The position of NOAA 2242 on December 17 at 12:30 UT is:
S19E04 (Solar X = -064", Solar Y = -299")

MM#009 Default HESSI Target
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
NOAA 2242 was again the source of several C-class events
in the past 24 hours. 2242 is maintaining its magnetically complex
D-type/beta-gamma configuration with an E-W inversion line.
Additional C-class events expected with the chance of an
isolated M-class event in the next 24 hour period.
The position of NOAA 2242 on December 16 at 12:30 UT is:

MM#009 Default HESSI Target
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
The target region (now numbered NOAA 2242) was the
source of an isolated M1.6 event at 12/14/19:33 UT.
2242 also produced numerous C-class events. 2242
has a D-type/beta-gamma "self-contained" sunspot group.
The leading sunspot has an unusual E-W magnetic inversion
line and opposite polarity umbrae within a common penumbra but
they are located too far apart to be classified as a true delta
configuration. Emerging flux located in the trailing spots might
be forming a small delta. C-class events expected with the
chance of another M-class event in the next 24 hour period.
The position of NOAA 2242 on December 15 at 12:30 UT is:
S20E31 (Solar X = -473", Solar Y = -321")

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a low to moderate level. Yesterday's target region, NOAA
12234, has not produced significant activity since the previous
message. On the other hand, a new region located at ~S10E70 was
responsible for the largest flare since the previous message, a
partially occulted M1.5 flare on 13-Dec-2014 at 5:13 UT. a series of
moderate to high C-class flares were also released. The region
contains a mixed polarity spot at its leading edge, showing a positive
spot surrounded by two negative spots. A new AR to the SE of NOAA
12237 has emerged, and shows a mixed polarity spot at the trailing
edge. The region was also responsible for a series of moderate to high
C-class events, but is also still actively emerging. Thus, the new AR
to the SE of NOAA 12237 is the target. Futher high C-class activity is
expected with the chance for an isolated low M-class flare.
The position of the new region on 14-Dec-2014 at 15:45 UT is:
S20E45 ( -650", -300" )

message, a C4.0 flare on 12-Dec-2014 at 14:40 UT. The region exhibits
further signs of flux emergence, and now contains a small mixed
polarity spot in its leading portion. Further low C-class activity is
expected with the chance for an isolated high C-class flare.

NOAA 12230, has released low C-class activity since
the previous message and shows signs of decay. On the
other hand, NOAA 12234 exhibits signs of flux emergence
and was responsible for the largest event, a C3.9 flare on
11-Dec-2014 at 8:56 UT. Further low C-class activity is
expected with the chance for an isolated high C-class flare.

NOAA 12232, has not released significant activity since the
previous message. On the other hand, NOAA 12230 is under-
going rapid flux emergence, currently showing a gamma mag-
netic classification. It was responsible for a series of high C-
class activity, the largest event being a C8.6 flare on 9-Dec-
2014 at 10:24 UT. Further high C-class activity is expected
with a chance for an isolated M-class event.

Solar activity is at a low level. The target region, NOAA
12222, released the largest event since the last message:
a C2.2 flare on 8-Dec-2014 at 00:39 UT. The region has
since rotated over the West limb. NOAA 12232 has newly
rotated on disk. The region was responsible for C-class
activity so far, and shows a beta magnetic configuration.
Further low C-class activity is expected, with the chance
for an isolated high C-class event.
