Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a moderate level. Target region NOAA 13800 has retained a beta-gamma/E-type sunspot group classification, but some of its intermediate spot distribution has simplified. NOAA 13800 has only produced three C-class flares in the period, the largest being a C6.6 flare on 25-Aug-2024 at 17:23 UT. The previous target NOAA 13796 also evolved somewhat, retaining its classification as a beta-gamma/D-type sunspot group but showing some flux emergence in its intermediate spots late in the period. NOAA 13796 has increased in flare productivity, being the source of several C-class flares and the largest magnitude flare since the last message - an M1.4 on 26-Aug-2024 at 11:28 UT. The MM#003 Major Flare Watch will remain in effect, but the target switches to NOAA 13796 for the following 24 hour period. C-class activity is expected in the next 24 hours, with a good chance for further M-class activity.
The position of NOAA 13796 on 26-Aug-2024 at 19:30 UT is:
S04W38 , ( 584" , -158" )
