Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity has increased significantly in the past 24 hours. NOAA 12488 (N03W50) showed a resurgence and produced the largest event, a C9.6 flare at 11:48 UT on January 28, and also produced another two C-class flares (C5.3 & C2.8). The target region NOAA 12489 seems to be quiet since the last message, but it has the potential to produce some activities. 12489 has developed some magnetic complexity with a beta/ D-type sunspot group increasing in spot area significantly. It is showing flux emergence in its leading portion. Further C-class flares are likely in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 12489 on January 28 at 15:35 UT is:
N10E18 (Solar X = -297", Solar Y = 260")
