Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at intermediate levels for the past 24 hours. The largest event since the last message was a C9.1 flare at 23:53 UT on 12-May-2023 from NOAA 13296. 13296 was still the most flare-productive region that remains a beta-gamma/E-type configuration, although it continues decreasing in the sunspot area and the number of spots. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13294 (beta/C-type) has been quiescent with magnetic signs of decay. Today we shall end the Major Flare Watch campaign and the default target shall switch back to NOAA 13296. Please note that some other active regions (NOAA 13305, 13297, 13293, 13304, 13302) also produced several low C-class flares in the period. Further high C-class activities are expected from various regions in the following 24-hour period with a chance for an M-class flare.
