Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has been at a low-to-moderate level since the last message. The main source of current flare activity is NOAA 14557. This region produced more than 10 C class flares in the last 24 hours, with the largest being a C3.5 flare at 2:36 UT today(10/20). NOAA 14557 slightly reduced in size but maintains flare activity. The target region, NOAA 14551 only produced 3 high-B class flares after the M1.7 event yesterday, now proceeding to the limb. Today we will switch the default target to NOAA 14557 to observe its central area with polarity inversion of a beta type. Additional C-class events are expected. The position of the target in NOAA 14557 on 20-October-2026 at 15:00 UT is: N06W34 (542", 36"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has slightly increased since the last message, but stays at a low level. The largest event in the last 24 hours was an M1.7 flare at 8:54 UT today(10/19) from the target region, NOAA 14551. There were some flux emergence around NOAA 14551; one is in the West of the following sunspots, which was the source area of the M1.7 event and a few low-C class flares. The other is the SouthWest of the following sunspot, which produced two low-C class flares today (at 02:06 UT and 7:07 UT). This region was registered as NOAA 15559, but now has significantly decayed. The other source of flare activity is from NOAA 14557, a beta/E type region that passed the North central meridian yesterday. This region has steadily grown in size and continues to produce C-class events, but they are currently at the low-C level. Today NOAA 14551 remains the target region. We will observe the West of the following sunspots, expecting additional C to low-M class activities. The position of the target in NOAA 14551 on 19-October-2026 at 16:00 UT is: S14W51 (728", -298"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at a low level. Several fares have been produced since the last message, the largest being a C3.7 from NOAA 14551 at 06:27 UT today. The target region has shown no sign of major flare activity and has begun to show some evidence of decay. At this time we are ending the Major Flare Watch, however for now NOAA 14551 will continue as the target region while it continues to be productive. Further C-class activity is expected. The position of NOAA 14551 on 18-Oct-2026 at 11:30 UT is: S15W39, (587", -319") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity is at a low level. The largest flare of the last 24 hours was an M1.4 from NOAA 14551 at 15:37 UT yesterday. Since the last message, the target region has been reclassified as a beta-gamma type region and has shown a slight reduction in apparent size and flux, however it continues to produce a significant number of flares. For now, the major flare watch will remain active for what may be the final 24 hours with NOAA 14551 as the target region. Further C-class and low M-class activity is expected with a slight chance for a >M5 event. The position of NOAA 14551 on 17-Oct-2026 at 7:30 UT is: S14W23, (366", -318") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at a low level. Numerous flares have been produced since the last message, the largest being a C4.9 from NOAA 14551 at 15:49 UT yesterday. NOAA 14551 is yet to produce a major flare, however the region has continued to grow in size, remains complex, and was the source of 14 flares since the last message. The MFW will remain active for now with NOAA 14551 as the target region. Further C-class activity is likely with the chance for a >M5 event in the next 24-48 hours. The position of NOAA 14551 on 16-Oct-2026 at 7:30 UT is: S15W10, (162", -341") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has remained persistent since the last message. Several flares have been produced, all of which are attributed to NOAA 14551, and the largest being a C2.9 at 02:00 UT today. NOAA 14551 is now classified as a beta-gamma-delta region and has grown in size. This region also continues to show growing levels of emerging flux. At this time, we are issuing a Major Flare Watch with NOAA 14551 as the target region due to the increased complexity of the region. Further C-class activity is likely, with the chance for a >M5 event in the next 24-48 hours. The position of NOAA 14551 on 15-Oct-2026 at 7:30 UT is: S15E03, (-48", -343") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues at a low level. Several flares have been produced since the last message, the largest being an occulted C7.0 from NOAA 14549 at 01:59 UT today. As of this time, NOAA 14549 is effectively out of view. The target region, NOAA 14554 has shown little development since the last message. Elsewhere on the disk, NOAA 14551 has developed into a large beta-gamma region, with a significant leading spot group and strong signs of flux emergence. While this region is yet to produce any substantial activity, it should be the focus of the next 24 hours and will be the new target region. C-class activity is likely. The position of NOAA 14551 on 14-Oct-2026 at 7:30 UT is: S15E17, (-272", -340") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at a low level. A small number of flares were produced since the last message, the largest being a C1.2 from NOAA 14549 at 03:29 UT today. NOAA 14549 is now classified as a beta-type region as it progresses over the northwestern limb. Elsewhere on the disk, newly numbered active region NOAA 14554 in the northeastern quadrant is showing signs of emerging flux and shall be further monitored for the next 24 hours. At this time, we are ending the MFW and the target region will now switch to NOAA 14554. Further low C-class activity is expected. The position of NOAA 14554 on 13-Oct-2026 at 7:30 UT is: N07E57, (-802", 62") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has continued at a low level since the last message. NOAA 14549 has not produced any further large flares since the M6.4 two days ago. Three C1.1 flares were produced since the last message, originating from NOAA 14549 and 14545. NOAA 14549 has changed in complexity and is now classified as a beta-delta region. This region is in proximity to the northwestern limb and will traverse the limb in the coming days. The sunspot activity from this region also appears mild. Meanwhile, NOAA 14551 has evolved into a beta-gamma region though it is yet to produce any significant activity. For now, the MFW will remain active for what may be the final 24 hours in preparation for a potential spontaneous >M5 event from NOAA 14549. However, it is likely that we will see further B and low C-class activity. The position of NOAA 14549 on 12-Oct-2026 at 7:30 UT is: N09W71, (898", 116") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Dear Collaborators, The target region, NOAA 14549 produced an M6.4 flare at 14:58 UT yesterday(10/10) right after the last message, but since then solar activity has come down to a low level. The largest event in the last 24 hours was a C4.8 flare at 17:45 UT yesterday from NOAA 14551 in the SouthEast quadrant, occurred during the decay phase of the M6.4 flare. Several other low-C class flares were reported from NOAA 14545 and a region newly rotated from the NorthEast limb. Although NOAA 14549 has not produced flares since the M6.4 event, a delta configuration in the leading sunspots are maintained. In the next 24 hours, NOAA 14549 should be monitored as the Major Flare Watch target. Flares of C to low-M class are expected with a slight chance of another event larger than M5. The position of the target in NOAA 14549 on 11-October-2026 at 16:00 UT is: N08W65 (862", 93"). See http://www.SolarMonitor.org and the newer version https://solmon.dias.ie for images and other information. Regards, Aki Takeda (Montana State University) --
