Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has slightly diminished. The largest flare produced since the last message was a C4.7 from NOAA 14451 at 23:39 UT yesterday. The target region continues to produce further occulted flares and appears to be rotating over the solar limb onto the disk. As of this time, this region remains unclassified but this may change in the next 24-48 hours. The target region will remain as the active region at the northeastern limb. Further C-class activity is expected. The approximate position of the target region on 27-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: N17E84, (-900", 279") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues at a low level. A small number of flares have been produced since the last message, the largest being a C9.7 from NOAA 14451 at 12:30 UT today. The target region over the northeastern limb still appears to be substantial but has not yet rotated onto the disk. This region continues to produce occulted C-class flares. This region will continue as the target region, however attention should also be paid to NOAA 14451 as this region may produce additional high C-class events. Further C-class activity is expected in the next 24 hours. The approximate position of the target region on 26-May-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N12E89, (-918", 200") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity is at a low level. Several flares were produced in the last 24 hours, the largest being a C4.6 from an unnumbered active region over the northeastern limb at 22:33 UT on the 25/05/26. This region shows a significant level of flux despite not yet being fully visible on the disk and was also the site of a number of other occulted C-class events. The target region will switch to the northeastern limb about this active region. Further C-class activity is expected with the chance for some additional occulted high C-class/low M-class events. The approximate position of the target region on 26-May-2026 at 03:30 UT is: N12E22, (-442", 217") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has been at a moderate-to-low level since the last message. Yesterday's target region rotated from the Southeast limb was designated as NOAA 14446. This region has produced more than 10 low-to-mid C class flares in the last 24 hours, with the largest being a C5.6 flare at 21:57 UT yesterday(5/23). Currently at least 3 sunspots with the leading(negative) polarity are visible from the Earth, which appear to be the leading portion of a larger region. A series of flares were produced from the Northeastern area of the currently visible sunspots of NOAA 14446, but this area has somewhat calmed down in the recent 12 hours. The latest flares in these several hours are 2 low-C class events from NOAA 14441 approaching the West limb. Today we will continue to observe NOAA 14446, but the target is shifted to the Northeast area of this region, because of the flare history since yesterday. The position of the target on 24-May-2026 at 16:00 UT is: S07E72 (-894", -110"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has declined to a low-to-moderate level since the last message. The main source of flare activity has been an unnumbered region rotated from the Southeast limb. This region produced 10 low-C class flares in the past 24 hours, with the largest being a C3.6 flare at 5:35 UT today(5/23). The target region, NOAA 14441 also contributed to this C3.6 event, but no other flare activity was reported. Today we will switch the target to this unnumbered region from the Southeast limb. Currently only one moderate-sized sunspot is visible from us close to the limb, and the flares are coming from further close to the limb. We will therefore observe the East side of the currently visible sunspot, expecting additional C-class events. The position of the target on 23-May-2026 at 15:00 UT is: S14E79 (-903", -225"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity during the last 24 hours was elevated to a moderate level due to the flares from behind the Northwestern limb produced by NOAA 14436. This region produced more than 10 flares larger than high-B class, with the largest being an M2.4 flare at 10:03 UT today(5/22). The loop system over NOAA 14436 will be fully out of our view in the next 24 hours. Yesterday's target, NOAA 14441 added new sunspots in the Northeast vicinity of the leading sunspots, now being classified as a beta-gamma type. Today we will continue to observe NOAA 14441 in the area of the new flux emergence, the source of a C1.5 flare today at 12:55 UT. The position of the target in NOAA 14441 on 22-May-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N09W53 (749", 180"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has been very low since the last message. The largest event in the last 24 hours was a C5.6 flare at 13:09 UT today(5/21) from the target region, NOAA 14436, which has now rotated behind the Northwest limb. NOAA 14441 in the Northwestern quadrant continued to grow both in size and number of sunspots since yesterday, having produced 2 high-B class flares from the area of trailing sunspots with mixed polarity. Today our target will move to NOAA 14441, expecting high-B to low-C activities. The position of the target in NOAA 14441 on 21-May-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N08W36 (553", 160"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues to be at a low level since the last message. The largest event in the last 24 hours was a C2.1 flare at 19:44 UT yesterday(5/19) from the target region, NOAA 14436. This region underwent a new flux emergence in the Southeast portion of the main sunspot, which resulted in several more low-C class flares yesterday. NOAA 14441 located in the Northwest quadrant is showing stable growth by adding new sunspots, but currently having produced only one B-class flare. Today we will continue to observe the Southeast portion of NOAA 14436, expecting additional low-C class flares before reaching at the limb. The position of the target in NOAA 14436 on 20-May-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N17W71 (855", 297"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has been at a low level since the last message. The largest event in the last 24 hours was a C2.1 flare at 7:29 UT today(5/19) from the plage in the north part of NOAA 14436. NOAA 14436 also produced a C1.9 flare (at 18:10 on 5/18) and several high-B class flares from the southeast side of the main sunspot. A bright region from the Northeast limb is coming into our view, but currently not showing flare activity. Today we will continue to observe NOAA 14436, on the Southeast side of the main sunspot. The position of the target in NOAA 14436 on 19-May-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N17W57 (764", 310"). Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has declined to a low level since the last message. The largest event in the last 24 hours was a C9.7 flare at 20:42 UT yesterday (5/17) produced by NOAA 14436. This region also produced 5 high-B class flares, while yesterday's target, NOAA 14432 rotated behind the limb without showing further flare activity. Today our default target will be switched to NOAA 14436, on the East side of the main sunspot. The position of the target on 18-May-2026 at 15:00 UT is: N18W43 (626", 320").
