MM#009 Default Target
Dear Collaborators,
Target region NOAA 2936 continues to increase its sunspot area and spot count. 2936 has a large compact E-type/beta sunspot group with a mostly E-W magnetic inversion line with leading and trailing polarities closely spaced. Continued growth might result in the region forming a magnetic delta configuration. 2936 produced several C-class events since the last message. The largest was a C6.9 at 01/29/12:19 UT. A region beyond the southeastern limb at approximately S16 was the source of a limb occulted C7.3 event at 01/29/16:55 UT. C-class events certain with an excellent chance of an isolated low level M-class event. A larger M-class (>M3) is possible if a magnetic delta configuration develops in the next 24 hour period.
The position of NOAA 2936 on January 29 at 15:45 UT is: N17E10 (Solar X = -162", Solar Y = 378")
