Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has increased since the last message. A substantial number of flares were produced in the last 24 hours, the largest being an M8.8 at 03:52 UT today from NOAA 13981. NOAA 13981 has shown rapid development in complexity and flux. This region is currently classified as a beta-gamma-delta and has produced over 25 flares since the last message, three of which were >M5.0. The Major Flare Watch will continue and the target region will switch to NOAA 13981. Further M-class activity is possible with a chance for additional >M5.0 flares in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 13981 on 03-February-2025 at 12:30 UT is:
N05E17, (-284", 185") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
