Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has declined to a low level since the last message. The largest event during the period was a C3.4 flare at 09:09 UT today produced by NOAA 14045 (S14W11, alpha/A-type). The target region, NOAA 14048 (S16E20), also produced four low C-class flares during this period, the largest one being a C2.5 flare today. It has been downgraded to a beta-gamma/F-type region and is showing a slight decrease in dynamic sunspot behavior. Today, the Major Flare Watch will be extended for the final 24 hours for NOAA 14048, due to its relatively large sunspot area (470 uh) and flare history. Low M-class activity is possible, with a slight chance of an isolated >M5 flare in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 14048 on 3-Apr-2025 at 11:30 UT is:
S16E20 (-316",-166")
