Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at a moderate-to-low level since the last message. The largest event was an M1.2 flare at 18:05 UT yesterday, produced by the target region NOAA 13936 (N13W89). It has nearly rotated beyond the west limb and also produced an M1.1 flare and two mid-to-high C-class flares in the period. We will watch this region for a final 24 hours but are ending the Major Flare Watch campaign at this time. Additionally, the northeast limb region (N10E82), mentioned in yesterday's message, produced three mid-to-high C-class flares during the period. Further C-class activity is expected, with a good chance for additional low-M flares in the following 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 13936 on 2-Jan-2025 at 08:30 UT is:
N13W89 (950",219")
