Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has reached a high level for the past 24 hours. A southeast limb region (unnumbered yet) is the most flare- productive and has produced 8 C-class flares as well as the largest event in the period - an M9.6 flare at 16:31 UT on 16-May-2023. At this point, we are implementing a Major Flare Watch on this limb region. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13305 (beta/D-type, N09W23) was the source of only four C1 flares with signs of decay. Further C-class activities are expected over the following 24-hour period, with a chance for another above M5 flare.
The approximate position of the target on 17-May-2023 at 11:30 UT
S18E88 (-875", -350")
