Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has increased to a moderate level since the last message. The largest event during the period was an M3.4 flare at 06:53 UT today from NOAA 14349 (S16E17, beta/C-type). Yesterday’s target, NOAA 14341 (S11W14), has remained flare-quiet throughout the period and has continued to decrease in magnetic complexity; it is now classified as beta/D-type. Nearby region NOAA 14345 (S17W07) produced an M1.2 flare along with several low C-class flares. Today, we will end the Major Flare Watch campaign, and the default target will switch to NOAA 14345 due to its ongoing significant flux emergence. Additional C-class activity is expected over the next 24 hours, with a chance of low M-class events.
The position of NOAA 14345 on 21-Jan-2026 08:30 UT is:
S17W07 (114",-201")
