Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at a moderate level. The largest event over the past 24 hours was an M1.9 flare at 22:38 UT yesterday produced by a newly numbered region NOAA 14048 (S15E75). 14048 also produced another two low M-class flares (M1.4 and M1.5) and 13 C-class flares. This region was designated as a beta/D-type configuration and has a highest current helicity compared with the other active regions. The target region NOAA 14046 only produced two low C-class flares during the period. It retains a beta/C-type configuration. Considering that it has a largest sunspot area of 270 uh and shows some new flux emergence, today we continue to watch this region with a Major Flare Watch campaign for another 24 hours. Further low M-class activities are expected from the target region and also from NOAA 14048, with some chance of a >M5 flare in the next few days.
