Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has further decreased since the last message. The largest event in the period was an occulted C4.4 flare at 19:14 UT yesterday, produced by NOAA 14174 (now beyond the southwest limb; see the SSW Latest Events entry https://www.lmsal.com/solarsoft/latest_events/#Eruptive_C4.3_behind_South_West_Limb_S07W88_Another_+5_Hour_VLDE_Well_behind_the_Limb_w/occulted_footpoints). The target region, NOAA 14172 (N11W52, beta-gamma/E-type), and NOAA 14178 (N09W83, beta-gamma/D-type) also produced several low C-class flares during the period, including a C4.1 flare that occurred in the decay phase of the C4.4 flare from 14172. NOAA 14172 shall remain the target region today. Additional C-class activity is expected in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 14172 on 14-Aug-2025 at 11:30 UT is:
N11W52 (734",113")
