Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has slightly increased since the last message. Several flares were produced over the last 24 hours, the largest being an M1.0 from NOAA 13976 at 05:48 UT today. NOAA 13976 has developed into a beta-gamma-delta region and has produced 13 flares since the last message. This region shows signs of significant flux emergence and very dynamic sunspot behaviour. At this time we are implementing a Major Flare Watch with NOAA 13976 as the new target region - attention should also be paid to NOAA 13977 and 13978 given their proximity. Additional C- and M-class activity is expected, with a slight chance for >M5.0 activity in the next 24-48 hours.
The position of NOAA 13976 on 31-January-2025 at 08:30 UT is:
N13E37, (-572", 297") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
