Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has decreased to an intermediate level in the past 24 hours. Several >C5 flares were produced by two active regions on the disk. A newly emerged active region NOAA 14330 (S16E09) produced two ~C6 flares. The target region NOAA 14324 was the source of a C6.3 flare at 17:27 UT yesterday. This region has increased in magnetic complexity to be classified as a beta-gamma/D-type. Today, the Major Flare Watch shall be extended for a further 24 hours with NOAA 14324. Further C-class activity is expected, with a chance for an isolated >M5 flare in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 14324 on 2-Jan-2025 08:30 UT is:
N24W07 (109", 446")
