Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has returned to a low level since the last message. The largest event was a C8.2 flare at 2:43 UT today(2/22) from an unnumbered region newly emerged in the Northwest quadrant and is approaching the limb. NOAA 13990, a sigmoid region produced 5 C class events including a C8.0 at 16:01 UT on 2/21, but significantly reduced in size and is undergoing a West limb passage.
Yesterday's target, now designated as NOAA 14000, produced 3 C class flares with the largest being a C7.5 at 3:17 UT today. All of these occurred from the area of following (negative) polarity. We will continue to observe this region for another 24 hours, expecting additional C to low-M class events.
The position of the target in NOAA 14000 on 22-February-2025 at 16:30 UT is: N17E01 (-17", 398").
