Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has become high-to-intermediate levels in the
past 24 hours. The target region NOAA 13559 was a source
of 2 high-C (C6.0 and C5.9) and 6 low-C flares. 13559 has
been downgraded to be a beta-gamma/E-type sunspot group,
but its proximity to the limb hampers accurate classification.
The looptops of NOAA 13559 shall continue as the target region
and the Major Flare Watch will be extended for a further 24 hours,
with a slight chance of a partially occulted M-class flare.

Solar activity has reached a high-M level, due to a long-duration
M6.8 flare at 03:54 UT today produced by the target region
NOAA 13559. This region also produced an M1.3 plus several
C-class flares. It maintains its magnetic complexity with a
beta-gamma/F-type configuration, although it rotates towards the
North West limb. The target shall continue as NOAA 13559, but
we are implementing a Major Flare Watch campaign at this time
because of the increased possibility of another >M5 flare within
the following 24-48 hours.

Solar activity has continued at a low level since the last message.
The largest event was a C3.3 flare at 09:36 UT today from NOAA 13561,
beyond the South West limb. The region on the visible disk with the
most magnetically complex is now NOAA 13559, a beta-gamma/F-type
sunspot group. This region also produced 3 low C-class flares in the
period and should become the new target. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13560
(S11W68, beta/D-type) was flare-quiet in the period. More C-class
activities are expected.

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at a low level in the past 24 hours.
The largest event since the last message was a C3.0 flare
at 19:59 UT on 26-Jan-2024 from NOAA 13560. This region
was classified as a beta/D-type configuration and emerged
new sunspots, likely to produce high C-class flares in the
following few days. 13560 should become the new target.
Yesterday’s target NOAA 13561 produced 8 low-C flares but
has almost rotated beyond the west limb. Additional C-class
activities are expected.

Solar activity has slightly decreased since the last message.
The largest events in the period are two C9.0 flares (at 00:23 UT
and 04:50 UT, respectively) today produced by the target region
NOAA 13561. This region was still the most flare-productive
during its approach to the South West limb, and it retains a
beta-gamma/D-type sunspot group. Today the target shall
continue as NOAA 13561 due to its recent flaring history.
Additional C-class activities are expected with a slight chance
of a low-M flare over the next 24 hours.

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has returned to a moderate level. The target
region NOAA 13561 has produced multiple flares, with
the largest being an M1.3 flare at 20:44 UT on 24-Jan-2024.
13561 retains a beta-gamma/D-type configuration. Today
we shall end the Major Flare Watch campaign but the
default target should remain with NOAA 13561. Please also
include NOAA 13555 (S12W60, beta/C-type) in your
field of view if possible, which was a source of 5 low-C flares.
Further C-class activities are expected with a slight chance
of a >M5 flare in the coming 24-hour period.

The level of solar activity has slightly decreased since the last
message. The largest event was an M4.3 flare at 16:36 UT on
23-Jan-2024 from NOAA 13561. It was the most productive
region and the source of multiple low-M flares. 13561 has
increased in magnetic complexity to be a beta-gamma/D-type
sunspot group, with signs of shearing and additional flux
emergence. Today the Major Flare Watch shall switch to NOAA
13561. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13559 only produced a few
C-class flares. Further C-class activities are expected over the
following 24-48 hours, with a chance of an above M5 flare.

the target region NOAA 13559. This region retains a beta-gamma/F-type
configuration and still increased in sunspot size and counts, with an
area of 360uH. The target shall remain with NOAA 13559, although
we are issuing a Major Flare Watch alert at this time due to the
increased possibility of another >M5 flare within the next 24-48 hours.

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has reached a moderate level due to an M1.5 flare
at 03:59 UT today produced by the target region NOAA 13559.
This region was also the source of multiple C-class flares. It has
developed to a beta-gamma/F-type configuration and still
experienced the emergence of new magnetic fluxes with mixed
polarities. The target shall continue as NOAA 13559 because of
its increased magnetic complexity and current level of flaring.
Further C-class flares are expected with a chance of another
M-class flare in the coming days.

Solar activity has increased since the last message.
The largest event was a C6.3 flare at 01:57 UT today
produced by the target region NOAA 13559. 13559
also produced two C5 flares and seven low C-class
flares. It has been designated as a beta/E-type sunspot
group with increasing the sunspot area and number
of spots. More C-class activities are expected with a
change of M-class flares in the next few days.
