Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity continues to be at a low level since the last message. The largest event in the past 24 hours was a C1.0 flare at 19:21 UT yesterday (8/6) from a newly emerged region in the East of NOAA 14503. This region consists of several tiny pores and surrounding plage, thus yet unnumbered. There was an eruptive event from behind the East limb at ~5 degrees South, which is the main contributor of a few hours of hump in GOES X-ray flux starting around 6UT today (see the SSW movie link below) .

Yesterday's target, NOAA 14498 only produced a B5.6 flare at 18:10 UT, while a few low-B class events were reported from its adjacent region NOAA 14500. Both regions lost sunspot area and magnetic complexity.
Today we will switch the default target to an unnumbered region from the Southeast limb, the source of a C1.0 flare yesterday. We will observe the East side of the plage with positive polarity associated with the pores of negative polarity. High-B to low-C class events are expected.
The position of the target on 7-August-2026 at 16:00 UT is: S21E51 (-689", -402").
