Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity remains at a very low level. Yesterday's target region
NOAA 14517 produced only one B6.8 flare since the last message
and is now almost entirely over the west limb. The largest event
during the period was a C2.6 flare at 08/31/15:09 UT from NOAA
14520 (S12W01; beta/D-type). This region also produced two
additional ~C1 flares during the period. Today, we will switch the
target region to NOAA 14520. In addition, an unnumbered active
region near the east limb (N18E87) produced two ~C1 flares and
one B8.6 flare during the period. Additional C-class activity is
expected in the following 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 14520 on August 31 at 15:30 UT is:

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity remains at a very low level. The largest event
since the last message was a C2.2 flare at 08/30/16:41 UT
from the previous target NOAA 14513 (N04W70) that retains
a beta/D-type configuration. The target region NOAA 14517,
having a beta/E-type sunspot group, was flare quiet during the
period. It is rotating over the west limb. Today we will continue
to watch this region, for a final 24 hours. If possible, please
also include NOAA 14513 in the field of view. Additional C-class
activity is expected in the following 24 hours.

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity continues at a very low level. The largest event
since the last message was a C3.0 flare at 01:10 UT today from
a northeast limb region (N11E88). NOAA 14517 was the source
of two C1 flares plus five high B-class flares, which has a beta/
E-type configuration. Today we will switch the target to NOAA 14517.
The previous target NOAA 14513 (N04W60) has been downgraded
to a beta/D-type region, decreasing in the sunspot area and number
of spots significantly. Additional C-class activity is expected from
NOAA 14517 and also the northeast limb region.
The position of NOAA 14517 on August 30 at 03:30 UT is:

NOAA 14513 only produced a C1.1 flare at 04:12 UT today,
plus three high B-class flares. 14513 has been reclassified
as a complex beta-gamma-delta configuration but it continues
to decrease in the sunspot area and number of spots. Additional
C-class activity is expected in the following 24-hour period.

Solar activity has dropped over the past 24 hours. The target
region NOAA 14513 only produced an M1.0 flare at 12:06 UT
yesterday, plus five C-class flares. 14523 has been downgraded
to a beta-gamma/D-type region, decreasing in the sunspot area
and number of spots. Today we will end the Major Flare Watch
campaign but continue to watch NOAA 14513. C-class activity
is expected with some chance of low M-class flare in the next
24 hours.

Dear Collaborators,
After the M6.9 flare yesterday, the target region NOAA 14513
produced an M2.2 flare at 06:29 UT today, plus two ~C1.5 flares.
14513 retains a beta-gamma-delta/E-type region and increases
the sunspot area. Today we will continue the Major Flare campaign.
Additional low M-class activity is expected with some chance of
another major flare above M5 in the following days.

Following the 4 low-M class events reposted in the previous message,
an M6.9 flare was produced at 9:32 UT today (8/25) from the target
region, NOAA 14513. An SolarSoft movie of this event is available at

At this time, we will implement the Major Flare Watch campaign on
NOAA 14513. The area of leading sunspots is forming a sharp boundary
of opposite polarity magnetic field patches, which is the main source
of a series of M class events. Further flare activities of M class or
larger are expected in the next 24 hours.

15:30 UT is: N03E28 (-35", -59").

Solar activity has increased since the last message. The target region
NOAA 14513 was the source of four low M-class flares, the largest one
being an M2.0 at 08/25/01:04 UT, eight low C-class, and two high B-class
flares during the period. 14513 has been reclassified as a beta-gamma-
delta/E-type region. Further low M-class activity is expected in the coming
24 hours.

produced by the target region NOAA 14513. 14513 also
produced another three low C-class flares plus one B9.3 flare.
It has been designated as a beta-gamma/E-type configuration,
but increasing in the sunspot area and number of spots. Today
we will continue to watch this region. Further C-class activity
is expected in the next 24 hours.

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at a low level since the last message.
The largest event in the last 24 hours was a C4.2 flare at 6:24 UT
today (8/23) produced by the target region, NOAA 14513. This
region also produced a few low-C class flares in the last 24 hours.
All these flares were initiated around the main leading sunspot with
positive polarity, but slightly different locations that are connected
with different nearby patches of negative polarity. Today, we will
continue to observe NOAA 14513, at the central portion of the two
leading sunspots with different polarities, the source of the C4.2
flare.
The position of the target in NOAA 14513 on 23-August-2026 at
15:30 UT is: N03E28 (-455", -50").
