Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a low level. Target region NOAA 13796 was decayed since the last message, decreasing in spot area and number of spots as it rotates towards the South West limb but remaining classified as a beta-gamma/D-type sunspot group. NOAA 13796 produced one C-class flare in the period (a C3.8 on 28-Aug-2024 at 01:24 UT), while the largest magnitude flare was a C5.0 on 28-Aug-2024 at 14:50 UT that appears to have originated from a new region beyond the South East limb. At this time we terminate the MM#003 Major Flare Watch, although the target stays as NOAA 13796. More C-class flares are expected in the next 24 hours, with a chance for a low M-class flare.
The position of NOAA 13796 on 28-Aug-2024 at 15:30 UT is:
S04W62 , ( 838" , -121" )
