Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity remains high since the last message. The largest event in the last 24 hours was an M2.9 flare at 15:52 UT yesterday (8/20) produced by the target region, NOAA 14513, from the area of leading sunspots. The second largest was an M1.7 long duration event over the West limb (started 9:09 UT today still ongoing) produced by NOAA 14507.
NOAA 14513 produced more than 10 C class flares and larger in the last 24 hours. Although yesterday's M8.1 event was erupted from the area of its trailing sunspots, many of later flares are being produced in the area of leading sunspots.
Today we will continue our Major Flare Watch campaign on NOAA 14513, but the target will move to the central portion where two sunspots of opposite polarities are located side-by-side. Additional C to M class activities are expected with a chance of an event larger than M5.
The position of the target in NOAA 14513 on 21-August-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N02E55 (-779", -16").
