Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has dropped to a low level since the last message. NOAA 14432 has been the most productive region, producing ~20 low-C flares, the largest of which was a C4.2 flare at 15:39 UT yesterday. This region has been classified as a beta/D-type magnetic configuration, with its sunspot area and number increasing. Yesterday’s limb target has been flare-quiet during this period. Today 14432 should become the new target. Further C-class activity is expected, with a chance for an isolated low-M flare in the coming 24 hours. The position of NOAA 14432 on 9-May-2026 at 15:30 UT is: N14W38 (569", 272") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has grown to a moderate level due to an eruptive M2.6 flare at 14:20 UT yesterday from the target region. This region (still unnumbered) has become the most productive in the past 24 hours, also producing a C4.9 and two ~C1 flares. Today, the target should remain at this limb region. Further C-class activity is expected, with another low-M flare likely in the next 24 hours. The approximate position of the target on 08-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: N19E88 (-900", 300") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has increased slightly in the past 24 hours. An unnumbered region behind the northeast limb produced the largest event, a partially occulted C4.5 flare at 01:28 UT today, which was long-duration and accompanied by a CME. Yesterday’s target, NOAA 14431, produced a ~B7 and a ~C2 flare but showed signs of decay, with its magnetic configuration degrading to beta/C-type. Today, the target will switch to this limb region from 14431. Additional low-C activity is expected in the following 24 hours. The approximate position of the target on 07-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: N17E88 (-900", 288") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has remained at a low level. The largest event since the last message was a C1.8 flare at 14:09 UT yesterday from NOAA 14425 (N06W82, alpha/H-type), which also produced two ~C1 flares. Yesterday’s target NOAA 14424 only produced a C1.3 flare before it completely transited out of Earth-view. NOAA 14431 on the disk was also the source of three ~C1 flares, and was classified as a beta/E-type, with new spots emerging. Although 14425 produced the largest flare, its proximity to the northwest limb limits further observation. Therefore, today’s new target is NOAA 14431. Continued C-class activity is probable in the coming 24-48 hours. The position of NOAA 14431 on 06-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: S16W08 (127", -205") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity has been at a moderate-to-low level since the last message. In the past 24 hours, NOAA 14424 produced three C-class flares, the largest of which was a partially occulted C6.0 flare at 05:21 UT today, following an M1.8 flare yesterday. This region was classified as a beta/D-type sunspot group and has rotated beyond the northwest limb. Close to the southeast of 14424, NOAA 14425 (N05W68, alpha/H-type) produced three ~C2 flares in the period with the emergence of new magnetic fluxes. Today the target will switch to NOAA 14424 (with 14425 included). C-class flares are likely in the following 24 hours. The position of NOAA 14424 on 05-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: N17W91 (909", 276") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at a low level. Several flares were produced since the last message, the largest being a partially occulted C8.7 from NOAA 14420 at 18:30 UT yesterday. NOAA 14431 has continued its development on the disk, however the most active region of the last 24 hours was NOAA 14429. The target region will switch to NOAA 14429 for the next 24 hours, further C-class activity is expected. The position of NOAA 14429 on 03-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: S04W01, (16", 0") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at a low level. Several flares have been produced since the last message, the largest being a C7.4 from NOAA 14420 at 15:24 UT yesterday. NOAA 14420 is now close to transiting fully beyond the northwestern limb, however it has still produced some partially occulted flares since the last message. Newly numbered active region NOAA 14431 has moved onto the disk from the southeastern limb, this region has shown notable signs of sunspot dynamism since coming into view. The target region will switch to NOAA 14431, however while still possible, attention should be paid to the limb location of NOAA 14420 for the chance of some final occulted events. Additional C-class activity is expected in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 14431 on 02-May-2026 at 03:30 UT is: N16E51, (-712", -221") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity continues steadily at a low level. NOAA 14420 a small number of flares since the last message, the largest being a pair of C1.9 flares at 04:12 and 09:29 UT today, respectively . NOAA 14420 is now transiting the northwestern limb and still shows signs of strong flux. This region will remain the target region while it is still in view. Further C-class activity is expected. The position of NOAA 14420 on 01-May-2026 at 11:30 UT is: N16W76, (888", 277") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity is at a low level. Several flares were produced since the last message, the largest being a C3.7 from a currently unnumbered active region over the southeastern limb at 09:35 UT today. NOAA 14420 continues to produce multiple flares, however in the last 24 hours these have been limited to lower C-class flares. This region is now beginning to transit the northwestern limb, signs of emerging flux still exist in this region and it should continue to be monitored. NOAA 14420 will remain the target region. Further C-class activity is expected. The position of NOAA 14420 on 30-April-2026 at 11:30 UT is: N16W63, (816", 293") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan. Dear Collaborators, Solar activity remains at a low-moderate level. A number of flares were produced in the last 24 hours, including a trio of M-class events, the largest being an M1.6 from NOAA 14420 at 13:49 UT yesterday. NOAA 14420 produced fifteen flares since the last message, and while the flux associated with the region appears to have reduced slightly, the region still shows notable sunspot activity. At this time, we are ending the Major Flare Watch, however NOAA 14420 will remain as the target region. Further C-class and low M-class activity is likely in the next 24 hours. The position of NOAA 14420 on 29-April-2026 at 07:30 UT is: N16W47, (671", 310") See http://www.SolarMonitor.org for images and http://solar.physics.montana.edu/max_millennium/ops/observing.shtml for a description of the current Max Millennium Observing Plan.
