Solar activity has been at moderate levels for the past 24 hours.
The largest event since the last message was an M2.2 flare at
11:32 UT today from a northeast limb region (unnumbered yet).
This region has also produced four M1 and multiple C-class flares.
Today the Major Flare Watch region will switch to this limb region
because of its recent higher frequency of flaring. Yesterday’s target
was numbered as NOAA 13310 (beta/D-type, S20E67) and only
produced 2 low C-class flares. Another region NOAA 13305 also
produced a C-class flare. Further low M-class activities are very
likely over the following 24-hour period, with a chance for an above
M5 flare.

Solar activity has reached a high level for the past 24 hours.
A southeast limb region (unnumbered yet) is the most flare-
productive and has produced 8 C-class flares as well as the
largest event in the period - an M9.6 flare at 16:31 UT on
16-May-2023. At this point, we are implementing a Major Flare
Watch on this limb region. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13305
(beta/D-type, N09W23) was the source of only four C1 flares
with signs of decay. Further C-class activities are expected
over the following 24-hour period, with a chance for another
above M5 flare.

Solar activity continues at low levels for the past 24 hours.
Yesterday’s target NOAA 13306 (S18W57) only produced
a C1.9 flare at 14:40 UT on 15-May-2023, and it was downgraded
to a beta/B-type configuration with decreasing in the sunspot
area. NOAA 13305 has increased in magnetic complexity and
has been classified as a beta-gamma/D-type sunspot group.
13305 is the most flare-productive with the source of 5 C1 flares,
so today the target shall switch to this region. Please note that
an unnumbered region (S23E89) also produced a C2.0 flare.
Further C-class activities are expected in the next 24-hour period.

Solar activity has returned to low levels for the past 24 hours.
The largest event since the last message was a C3.4 flare at
00:46 UT today from NOAA 13306. 13306 just emerged today
and has been classified as a beta/C-type sunspot group. This
region is the most productive and has produced 6 flares.
Yesterday’s target NOAA 13296 has already rotated beyond
the west limb, so today the target shall switch to NOAA 13306.
In addition, an unnumbered region (S35E88) and NOAA 13305
(N10E07, beta/D-type) also produced a few low-C flares.
Further C-class activities are expected from various regions
in the next 24-hour period.

Solar activity continues at intermediate levels for the past 24 hours.
The largest event since the last message was a C7.0 flare at 09:07 UT
today from the target region NOAA 13296. 13296 was the source of 6
C-class flares, although it was downgraded to a beta/D-type configuration.
The other active regions (NOAA 13305, 13297, 13293, 13300) produced
a few low C-class flares in the period. Today the target shall continue at
NOAA 13296 before it completely rotates beyond the west limb. Further
high C-class activities are probable from various regions in the next 24-48
hours with a small chance for an M-class flare.

Solar activity has been at intermediate levels for the past
24 hours. The largest event since the last message was a
C9.1 flare at 23:53 UT on 12-May-2023 from NOAA 13296.
13296 was still the most flare-productive region that remains
a beta-gamma/E-type configuration, although it continues
decreasing in the sunspot area and the number of spots.
Yesterday’s target NOAA 13294 (beta/C-type) has been
quiescent with magnetic signs of decay. Today we shall end
the Major Flare Watch campaign and the default target shall
switch back to NOAA 13296. Please note that some other
active regions (NOAA 13305, 13297, 13293, 13304, 13302)
also produced several low C-class flares in the period. Further
high C-class activities are expected from various regions in
the following 24-hour period with a chance for an M-class flare.

flare at 18:13 UT on 11-May-2023 from NOAA 13294. This region
retains a beta/C-type configuration and remains the sunspot area
and the number of spots. Yesterday’s target NOAA 13296 (N15W70,
beta-gamma/E-type) was only the source of multiple C-class flares
and it shows magnetic signs of decay. Today the Major Flare Watch
region shall switch to NOAA 13294. Further low-M flares are likely
in the next 24-48 hours, with a small chance of an above M5 flare.

Solar activity has been at high-to-moderate levels for the
past 24 hours. The largest event since the last message
was an M2.2 flare at 14:11 UT on 10-May-2023 from the
target region NOAA 13296. Although this region has been
classified as a beta-gamma/E-type configuration, it increased
in the sunspot area and the number of spots, which remains
the most flare-productive. Today the Major Flare Watch region
shall remain NOAA 13296. In addition, NOAA 13294 (S07W40,
beta/C-type) also produced an M2.2 flare at 08:47 UT today.
Further low-M flares are probable in the next 24-48 hours,
with a chance of an above M5 flare.

Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity remains high in the past 24 hours. The target
region NOAA 13296 was the source of two M-class flares
(M4.3 at 05/09/18:20 UT and M5.0 at 05/09/20:32 UT), which
has increased in magnetic complexity and been classified
as a beta-gamma-delta/E-type sunspot group. This region
is continuing to develop and is likely to remain flare productive.
13296 shall remain the target with the Major Flare Watch in
effect. Further low-M flares are probable in the next 24-48 hours,
with a chance of an above M5 flare.

Solar activity has increased in the past 24 hours. The largest
event since the last message was an M6.5 flare at 03:42 UT
today produced by the target region NOAA 13296. This region
was also the source of 3 low M-class (M2.3, M1.3, and M1.4)
flares and it has been classified as a beta-gamma/E-type
configuration, with increasing sunspot area and number of
sunspots. Therefore, we are implementing the Major Flare Watch
campaign at this time. Further low M-class flares are probable
in the next 24-48 hours, with a chance of an above M5 flare.
